The first round of the 2020 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas – baja “RUSSIA – Northern Forest” will be held in the Leningrad Region (near Saint Petersburg) on 6-9 February 2020. This is the only ice and snow baja in the world. The route will pass along the roads of Priozersk and Vyborg regions.
Starting crews will begin the struggle for the 2020 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas title owner, as well as for the Russian Cross Country Championship. The winter race will open a new season of Russian off-road competitions.

The world’s only snow and ice baja “Russia – Northern Forest 2019” took place in Karelia from 15 to 17 February; it was the 1st round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas and the 1st round of the Russian Cross-country Championship. 44 participants from 15 countries went to the start, 37 crews finished.
According to the preliminary results, the crew No. 207 Tapio Lauronen / Toni Tapio Lauronen wins the “Russia – Northern Forest 2019” race, the 1st round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas.

The world’s only snow and ice Baja “Russia – Northern Forest 2019” is held in Karelia from 15 to 17 February. The competition is the 1st round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas and the 1st round of Russian Rally Raid Championship. The entry list includes 44 crews from 15 countries.
The weather on the second day morning of Baja “Russia – Northern Forest 2019”, the 1st round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, was sunny and windless. It froze a little overnight, and it was enough to keep the forest roads smooth after the field passage. All participants unanimously note a well-prepared track that is a pleasure to ride.
On SS2, the first to start according to yesterday’s choice of starting positions was the crew #201 – Vladimir Vasilyev / Konstantin Zhiltsov. Not surprisingly they were the first to finish the stage. Vladimir Vasilyev: “It was very fast and narrow with lots of turns and series of turns. It’s like left – right, left – right, right, right…”
The 1st round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas starts in Sortavala, Republic of Karelia, on 15 February. Participants of the Russian Rally-Raid Championship who will also open the 2019 sports season, will join the World Cup racers.

If you want to check out the snow routes of Karelia before the start of the 1st round of FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, you may want to apply for race tests organized by our colleagues in the area where baja RUSSIA Northern Forest 2019 will be held. The event is scheduled for February 14, 2019. Overall test duration is 6 hours.
The track will be laid out on the territory of the recreation complex "Black stones"(61° 59′ 27.38″ N, 30° 46′ 22.97″ E). The test section is about 7 km long and is filled with turns of various configurations alternating with straight sections and altitude differences. In order to ensure your safety, the track will made in the ring scheme and there will be a medical team on a specialized vehicle on duty during the tests.

As the routes of the the baja RUSSIA Northern Forest are partly situated in the vicinity of the Russian - Finnish border, each person connected to the race should get a participant ID that is issued by the border guard service. The organizer will enable registration ID issue before the race free of charge, or during the Administrative checks and preliminary Administrative Checks on the 14th and 15th of February with a registration fee. The borderguard service will demand a colour 3x4 cm photo (paper or electronic copy) and a copy or the original of the international passport (for international participants and members of their teams) or the national passport (for russian citizens) for EACH member of the team. The list of registered team members should be sent down to email@example.com alongside with entry form. The registration forms and the lists of registered team members are only required form the participants and accredited media representatives.

On the 17th of December FIA official website published the SPORTING and TECHNICAL REGULATIONS for FIA WORLD CUP for CROSS-COUNTRY BAJAS.
Please note, that the results of all bajas will be taken into account for the final classification in the World Cup, making all the bajas in the series compulsory for those competing to win. There are also technical changes for 2019 that the competing vehicles will have to comply with.
The first round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies – “Russia – Northern Forest 2019” Baja will be held on 15-17 February in Karelia.
The snow and ice rally raid in the North-West of Russia has been held since 2003, and in recent years it has become the first round of the top racing series in the world of cross-country rallies conducted under the auspices of the International Automobile Federation – the World Cup.

Qatari driver feels confident on Karelian snow roads, although his advantage over the Czech crew is only four minutes.

“Russia – Northern Forest” Baja starts this weekend in Karelia and combines two competitions on the same track: the first round of the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies and the first round of the Russian Rally Raid Championship.
